Fundraiser Profile

Join me and change lives in Guatemala

This will be my second trip with OHNF, and I am super excited for the opportunity to return and to use my passions and skills to learn and to make an impact in Guatemala.

I am a PTSD clinical research coordinator with a passion for addressing issues of public health and mental health in vulnerable populations. I discovered my passion for public health issues while studying psychology at the University of Oregon, where I recognized large disparities in health, access to mental health resources, and quality of life in Eugene, Oregon. During that time, I volunteered in community gardens and kitchens aimed at addressing food insecurity in Eugene. I also helped provide materials to unhoused individuals. I even worked with a group of women to sew together reusable menstrual products for girls who did not have steady access to basic needs.

After leaving the University of Oregon, I got my masters degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where I spent a majority of my time working with community based organizations that offer services to pregnant women who use substances in order to improve health outcomes for them and their children.

All of this work has instilled in me a strong desire to use what I have to help others where I can. I hope that this trip will give me the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge as a researcher and a global citizen to make an impact where I can. More than anything, I hope this will be a learning opportunity and jumping off point to further my passion for addressing important issues in underrepresented and underserved communities.

I’ve committed to raising $5,000 towards Medical and Impact Missions in Guatemala. With your support we can change lives.
