Fundraiser Profile
Join me and change lives in Antigua
Hello friends and family!
I’m going to Guatemala on a Medical and Impact Mission with the Osborn Head and Neck Foundation (OHNF). I’m honored to participate in this amazing opportunity to help children and families gain access to life changing medical care and essential supplies. My sister-in-law has worked with the OHNF organization for many years and has shared with me the wonderful work they have done for those less fortunate than ourselves. In past years they have provided services in Belize, Ethiopia, Peru, and more. So, in February 2022 I am joining her and the Impact Mission to be of service to a local orphanage in Guatemala City.
Why is this important to me
My mother, Mary, was a giver. Simply…If she had it to give she would. She believed it was the right thing to do and it would always come back to her. Most knew my mother as “Granny”. She was the neighbor lookout and caretaker. She knew all the goings on of the neighborhood. My mother cared for young children of hard working mothers who did not have child care while they were working, usually at odd hours or late night shifts. My mother’s home was a safe place for their children to sing, learn the alphabet, and eat delicious home cooked meals. She gave those young mothers a chance to compete and provide for their children, while their little ones filled my mother’s heart with rainbows and butterflies. My mother gave their children a chance to be kids, to believe in miracles, have hopes, and dream BIG!!
Not only was my mother a giver, I come from a village of givers. Mind you, we were not wealthy and I had a very humble upbringing. My mother did her very best to provide for her girls; myself and two sisters. She was not prideful and was willing to accept help from “our village” of family, friends and church members to raise us and provide us with the essentials needed to thrive. Our village made it possible for me and my sisters to have what we needed and sometimes…what we wanted, like a sparkling twirling baton! 😀 I was surrounded by caring and loving people who wanted the best for me and taught me to work hard, be kind, and take care of those in need of help. We were given a chance to be kids, to believe in miracles, have hopes, and dream BIG!
As a volunteer of this mission I want to continue what I have been taught; work hard, be kind, and take care of others. I want to be a part of giving the children at the local orphanage in Guatemala City a chance to be kids, to believe in miracles, have hopes, and dream BIG too!!! I believe our village can make a difference in the lives of these children the way my mother did and my village did for me. By raising funds for these children in need our village can help provide the essentials needed to thrive. They need to be given a chance…and we can help with that! The monetary gifts you donate will make a tremendous difference in the lives of these children.
I’ve committed to raising $5,000 towards Medical and Impact Missions in Guatemala. With your support we can change lives.
