Join Me And Change Lives In Ghana

Margaux’s Why:

I’m passionate about joining the mission to Ghana because I want to become a doctor, and this opportunity feels like a true step toward that calling. I want to understand what it means to provide care in communities where medical resources are limited and to experience firsthand what it’s like to serve as a doctor without borders.

I’ve never been to Africa, and I’m drawn to Ghana not just for the new cultural experience, but because I know it will challenge me in ways I can’t yet predict. I want to be pushed out of my comfort zone—mentally, physically, and emotionally—to better understand what I love about medicine, what I struggle with, and how I can grow.

This isn’t just about gaining experience; it’s about gaining clarity, perspective, and purpose in the field I hope to dedicate my life to.

Sunny’s Why:

Since middle school, I’ve dreamed of participating in Outward Bound, but it was always financially out of reach for my family and me. I’ve always told Margaux—and my 21-year-old son Mathis—that life is about collecting memories and experiences, not things. Together, the three of us have spent over 100 hours volunteering with underserved communities and the unhoused. For me, true wealth lies in sharing our abundance and giving our time to others.

Being part of this mission—especially alongside my daughter Margaux—would be one of the most meaningful opportunities of my life.

On a personal note, I studied pre-med in college but realized I didn’t have the stomach for clinical medicine. Instead, I’ve spent my career in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry and am currently with Merck Oncology. I enjoy having in-depth conversations with doctors and surgeons about what matters most to them, their patients, and the treatment options available.I am passionate about addressing healthcare disparities and equities, and being a part of a future in which underserved communities have access to the care they need to live a healthy, dignified life.
