About the Cause

What types of medical needs will my run support?

Your run supports head and neck medical services for those in need, domestically and on our annual Medical Mission. Our team of volunteer surgeons and support staff treat head and neck cancers, surgically restore hearing loss, provide reconstructive surgery for victims of domestic violence, repair nasal cavities for recovering substance abusers, and much more. The Foundation helps patients with a wide range of ear, nose and throat (ENT) medical needs and fundraising events like the LA BIG 5K make it possible!

What are we running for?

By joining the team you are saving lives and giving peace of mind for families who have nowhere else to turn for head and neck medical care. We are running to build healthier families and communities, and provide access to safe and compassionate ear, nose and throat medical specialists.

What programs and services does my run support?

Your run provides low and no cost surgical care for those without the financial resources to get the medical treatment they need. Along with donated surgical care, our travel and housing grants programs ensure patients who need to see medical specialists outside of their city or state can afford to do so. Patient hotel and travel expenses are subsidized through these programs.

The Foundation also works with communities outside the US in developing countries by organizing annual Medical Mission Trips. Past trips have included Peru, India, Belize, and Ethiopia.

Do the surgeons and support staff get paid by the Foundation?

No. All of our surgeons and medical staff volunteer their time and talents for patients in need of care.

What does money raised go toward?

Low and no cost surgical care, anesthesia, instrumentation, specialty equipment, surgical supplies, as well as operating room expenses. Additionally, your run supports travel and housing grants for those who can’t afford to see a specialist located outside their city, state and or country.

Are donations tax deductible?

The Osborne Head & Neck Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit and your donations are fully tax deductible up to the extent of the law.
