Hi, my name is Deja Benjamin. This past summer I was blessed to be a Medical Scholar for the Osborne Head and Neck Institute, where I was able to confirm my love for healthcare and medicine. After completing this program, I not only learned what it takes to be a physician, their day to day life, and valuable skills but I also learned the principles that come with serving others before oneself.
From a young age, I have always wanted to become a doctor, specifically a pediatrician, because I love interacting with children and often went to the doctor when I was younger due to health concerns. I have a passion for helping others and have encountered many personal circumstances in which close family members have passed away due to critical treatment not being provided in a timely manner.
To increase access to healthcare, this summer I will be joining OHNI on a medical mission to Antigua, Guatemala to provide life changing surgical care and humanitarian efforts in local communities. I will be a part of the Impact Mission Team who is committed towards improving the lives of children through donating materials and by improving local facilities such as schools and living spaces. To aid in fostering these efforts towards making a difference around the world, I am fundraising $5,000 in support of this year’s medical mission. Any amount is greatly appreciated and goes towards making a difference in people’s lives for generations to come.

Medical and Impact Missions are 100% funded by donations from supporters like you. We commit to communities with little to no access to medical care, and bring all supplies needed to perform a wide array of medical services.
