Fundraiser Profile
Join me and change lives in Guatemala
Hello Everyone! My name is Natalie Campos and in February 2022, I will be joining a team of volunteers to travel with the Osborne Head & Neck Foundation to Guatemala to aid medical facilities. I am an alumni from the OHNI Medical Scholars Program and immediately knew that this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore my passion for medicine and science and change the lives of many!
My passion for medicine and science drove me towards the Medical Scholars Program where I witnessed that the level of patient interaction was just as important as the actual surgical procedure. I watched in admiration as doctors made patient care their number one priority. Having recently lost my best friend to cancer, it made me realize the impact I could have by simply being able to translate to his parents during his treatment. That is why on this trip, I want to communicate with patients on a level that allows me to relieve their stress or concerns in a medical setting.
Personally, this means trying to assist with language barriers, ensuring that patients are comfortable enough to advocate for their own health. I would like to also receive a better understanding of health care disparities outside of the United States. Many do not have adequate medical equipment or access to experienced professionals. Other obstacles might include discrimination in health care based on socioeconomic level, lack of transportation, inability to pay for medical expenses, and cultural stigmas surrounding medical assistance. Joined by other like-minded individuals, I know our roles can make lasting impressions. With your aid, donations can enhance and save the lives of many. I welcome everyone who joins me on this journey and thank you for your help!
I’ve committed to raising $10,000 towards Medical and Impact Missions in Guatemala. With your support we can change lives.
Medical and Impact Missions are 100% funded by donations from supporters like you. We commit to communities with little to no access to medical care, and bring all supplies needed to perform a wide array of medical services.
Your donation is…
- Providing clinical and surgical services, at no cost, to those living in extreme poverty in Guatemala
- Arranging and paying for transportation for patients living in remote villages
- Providing local language experts to eliminate language as a barrier to care
- Securing lodging for patients in the city during treatment and post op care
- Sponsoring children to be fed, sheltered, clothed, and protected at the Hogar Shalom Orphanage
- Adding up to 50 computers for children in remote villages to learn employable skills that can lift them out of poverty
- Refreshing a school and orphanage living quarters, inside and out, with new paint and onsite community works
- Increasing access to education skills training
