A Mission of Service. A Family Commitment. A Call to Action.
I’m Dr. Ryan Osborne, founder of the Osborne Head and Neck Foundation. This fall, I’m leading a medical mission to Ghana that’s deeply personal — not just for me, but for my entire family.
Together with a team of 43 incredible volunteers, we’ll be providing critical surgical care to patients who have little or no access to medical services. These are people suffering from head and neck conditions that, left untreated, can become life-threatening. In many of the communities we visit, some patients have never even seen a doctor before.
This year is extra meaningful to me. I’m honored that my two children — Taylor, who is studying to become a physician, and Dean, who is heading up the Impact Mission supporting a local orphanage and school in Ghana — will be joining me. Even my mother, who inspired my commitment to service, will be traveling with us. This is truly a family mission, and a chance to lead by example — through action, compassion, and purpose.
Why We Need Your Support
It might surprise you to learn that our Foundation depends heavily on grassroots fundraisers like this one. Without your support, this kind of life-changing work simply wouldn’t be possible.
The communities we serve in Ghana face enormous barriers to care:
- Many live in remote villages with no transportation to clinics or hospitals
- Some are afraid of hospitals, having never received medical care before
- Others face language barriers, or can’t afford to leave their homes or jobs to seek treatment
- Far too many are turned away due to poverty
We’re not just flying in for surgery. We’re investing in long-term impact — from opening ENT clinics to training local health workers, and supporting post-op care for patients once they return home.
Your donation helps cover:
- Transportation, meals, and lodging for patients and families
- Surgical supplies and hospital expenses
- Translators, local health promoters, and post-op support
- Community service projects at an on-site orphanage and school

- Inadequate distribution of health personnel: A significant disparity exists between urban and rural areas, with the majority of health personnel concentrated in urban centers.
