Fundraiser Profile
Join Me And Change Lives In Ghana
At sixteen, I had the extraordinary privilege of joining the inaugural OHNF medical mission to Ethiopia. On our first day, as we arrived at the hospital and were met by nearly a thousand people awaiting our care, I began to truly grasp the scale and significance of the work ahead. That moment crystallized for me just how vital access to healthcare is—something I’ve cared deeply about ever since. These missions continually renew my conviction in its necessity and my commitment to this cause.

In the beginning, I contributed in whatever ways I could. In Ethiopia, the operating room and clinic were three stories apart, with no elevator. I became the runner, delivering messages and transporting supplies up and down the stairs nonstop throughout the week. By the time we traveled to Peru, I had grown into more clinical responsibilities: triaging patients, assisting with endoscopies, and suturing superficial wounds. Now, as I approach the end of my second year of medical school, my aspiration is to one day return on these missions not just as a team member, but as one of the surgeons. Until then, I remain committed to doing everything within my capacity to serve meaningfully.

These trips have given me some of the most treasured memories of my life. I spend roughly ten days each year on the mission itself, and the remaining 355 days sharing stories about how transformative the experience was. I’ve met incredible people—both among our teams and in the communities we’ve served—who have broadened my perspective and helped me grow, personally and professionally. What makes these journeys even more special is getting to share them with my father, brother, and grandmother. Working side by side as a family, united by purpose and passion, has been one of the greatest joys of all.

When a community of compassionate individuals contributes their time, energy, and resources toward a common good, the results are truly transformative. Your support—whether through donations, advocacy, or simply sharing our story—helps make these missions possible. Every contribution plays a role in expanding access to care for those who need it most. I hope you’ll join us in sustaining this work—because together, we’re not just changing lives; we’re building something profoundly meaningful.
