My HOPE & VISION
I know from first hand experience there is need to expand access to head and neck medical services in Los Angeles. I am committed to seeing the Foundation secure a home where their services can grow, and touch the lives of more families in need. Join me and support this worthy cause.
As you are aware, there are significant disparities in access to surgical care throughout the world. Thirteen years ago, I began volunteering as a facial reconstructive surgeon with the Osborne Head and Neck Foundation (OHNF), a non-profit organization. The foundation’s mission initially focused on helping head and neck cancer patients increasing their access to postoperative rehabilitation and aftercare services.
Upon joining the foundation, I was involved primarily with reconstructive surgery for head and neck cancer patients. However, I also saw I need to expand our services to the full breadth of what we could offer the local community and eventually the world.
New services included branching out into all facets of ear, nose, and throat surgery, head & neck surgery, and of course, my love- functional plastic and reconstructive surgery.
My passion is helping children with acquired, traumatic, or congenital facial deformities. Those with the greatest need include children who may be victims of abuse, accidental injuries, or those with congenital disabilities who may not have access to surgical services in their community. Children with facial anomalies such as cleft lip and cleft palate haven’t had a fair chance at life, not learning to speak or eat properly, or being excluded from and participating in society as a regular member. Making a difference for the most innocent among us is the noblest cause we can champion.
We have performed many needed operations worldwide in Eastern Europe, Central America, South America, Asia, and Africa. To date, we have had 100% success with no mortalities. We believe our results come from talented people working as a team performing God’s work.
Unfortunately, we have encountered many patients that we could not help due to logistical obstacles or simply insufficient time. I have been deeply impacted by being unable to help; leaving untreated patients behind has been very disheartening.
We are creating a sustainable program based here in Los Angeles, California, that will provide services year-round. This program will enable us to support patients who lack access to surgical care who desperately need the chance for a new life. The foundation also sponsors youth leadership programs, provides mentorship for future physicians through our medical scholars summer program and surgical fellowships for physicians directly serving third-world countries to sustain our efforts beyond our lifetimes, and much more.
Do you have an interest in partnering with me on this project? Please join my team, and let’s start making a difference in the world today!
Warmly,
Jason S. Hamilton M.D.
