Join Me And Change Lives In Ghana
When I was 10 years old, I was set on becoming a surgeon—ask my mom, nothing could change my mind. By 18, I found my why: global surgery. I felt a deep pull toward helping children in underserved areas, especially where access to surgical care is limited.
Then I discovered ENT, and everything clicked. It all made sense.
Since then, I’ve been on two short-term mission trips, but this upcoming trip to Accra, Ghana, feels different. This is the place I imagined myself serving over a decade ago—and now that vision is finally becoming a reality.
With the Osborne Head and Neck Foundation, I’ll have the privilege of caring for patients in rural areas outside the city—places where access to surgical care is nearly nonexistent. As a resident physician, this opportunity is not only humbling, it’s invaluable.
Traveling to the ancestral land of Africa makes this mission even more meaningful to me. And doing it alongside a team I deeply admire makes it all the more special.

- Low spatial access to physicians and health facilities: Long travel distances for many to reach care.
- Inadequate distribution of health personnel: A significant disparity exists between urban and rural areas, with the majority of health personnel concentrated in urban centers.
